Culture can be an effective response for people’s wellbeing, given its impact on physical and mental health. Increasingly, initiatives are incorporating a holistic vision of health, supported by the latest scientific evidence, which shows that the arts and culture can have a positive effect on people’s health. Within RIS3CAT, the challenge of finding new models to integrate culture into the social and healthcare system has been identified. For this reason, the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Catalan Health Institute, seeks to highlight projects that effectively contribute to addressing this challenge, such as:

  • Obrim Portes (National Art Museum of Catalonia and Vall d’Hebron University Hospital)
  • Renaixements (Catalan Health Institute)
  • EmbolicArts (Sexual and Reproductive Health Care [ASSIR] of Barcelona, Catalan Health Institute, and Kasal de Joves Porta)
  • Eixart. Art i salut (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia)
  • L’Altre festival (L’Altre Festival Association)
  • Immersive reality for the improvement of mental health and neurorehabilitation (Broomx)
  • Art i Cura (Iluro Foundation)
