In 2007, the Freiburg Declaration on Cultural Rights was presented, the result of an exhaustive work carried out by the so-called “Group of Freiburg” of the Interdisciplinary Institute of Ethics and Human Rights of the University of this Swiss city. This text, of great international relevance, sought to consolidate rights already recognised in other instruments, seeking to demonstrate both the cultural importance of cultural rights and the cultural dimensions of other human rights. Almost 20 years later, many other initiatives have followed suit. This dialogue brings to this XI Meeting Culture and Citizenship the director of the aforementioned Fribourg Group, Patrice Meyer-Bisch, to reflect on the point where we are in the framework of Cultural Rights, from a retrospective look at the work carried out, and with a projection of the future that advances the challenges we face today.
