Although culture holds clear transformative power, it remains largely absent from global climate policy frameworks. Overlooking cultural knowledge, institutions, and practices in key global frameworks undermines climate strategies. It disconnects them from local realities and community identities, missing the opportunity to unlock the full potential of culture to foster climate resilience, solidarity, and justice.
This session aims to challenge this marginalization and amplify the call for culture to be recognized as a key driver of climate action. It will outline how cultural networks, alongside local and regional governments, can deliver meaningful action on the road to COP30. Building on existing momentum, it will help secure a central role for culture in shaping the climate agenda beyond 2025.
